What is Aging Skin?
Aged skin is caused by intrinsic factors (genetic factors which we don’t have any control) and extrinsic factors (smoking, pollution, poor eating habits and sun light.) Essentially all visible aging signs are associated with photo aging. Photoaging is defined by epidermal/dermal changes, loss of collagen in the dermis, disorderly/haphazardly packed collagen and a compact band of elastois below the epidermal/dermal junction, in depths ranging from 100 to 300 microns in the skin. The Affirm’s® depth of penetration of 100-300 microns specifically targets the photo-aged skin.
Aging signs are:
- Rhytids (fine lines, coarse lines and wrinkles)
- Dyschromia (pigmentary changes and age spots)
- Tone (loss of luster, optical dullness)
- Texture (pore size, rough, irregular skin)
