Spot Fat Reduction — Correction Of Lower Eyelid Bulging Due To Prominent Fat Pads

Infra-orbital-lower eyelid fat pads cause people to have a tired and aged appearance. Why is this herniation of fat pads occur is not known. This definitely can be managed by surgery or by Mesotherapy (injection in the fat pad of fat dissolving medicine.) Before the injection size and location of the fat pads is determined and an ophthalmology consultation is done to rule out any other ocular pathology. Injections are given at 15 day intervals to allow a complete resolution.

Side effects include:

• Mild burning after injection
• Redness and swelling (edema) of the entire lower eyelid can last up to 72 hours
• As area is vascular, hematoma and echymosis can occur
• Rarely, ulcers can occur
