Papules, pustules and round keloids that occur in bearded areas are known as PFB or shaving bumps. They are most common in African American Men, but also occur in white men and in women who pluck facial hair. The triad underlines PFB are ingrown curly hair, secondary infection and secondary inflammation. Once PFB occurs it tends to worsen if untreated, leading to brown blotchy pigmentation, scarring and persistent follicular infection now we have YAG laser with very good effects for the treatment.
Multiple treatments are required for the desired effect.
